SOUTHERN ROAD TRIP 
(18DAYS / 17 nights)

Day 1: LIMA (No meals included) 

Arrival in Lima. Pick up and transfer from Lima Airport to your selected hotel, located in Miraflores. 

Accommodation at Lima Wasi Hotel Hotel 3*.

Day 2: LIMA (Breakfast)

LIMA CITY TOUR 

We will begin our tour visiting the modern suburbs of San Isidro and Miraflores where we will see the Financial Center, the San Isidro Golf Course a nd the Olive Grove Park. We will also go by the Huaca Pucllana, a pre-inca pyramid shape temple that has survived the expansion of modern civilization. We will stop at Parque del Amor (Love Park) and enjoy a nice view of the Pacific Ocean, as we drive down the Miraflores Malecon, a road along the cliffs overlooking the ocean. 

Continue our visit to downtown Lima`s historical center, designated by Unesco as Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 1991. In this journey we will enjoy what once was the center of the 16th century Spanish colony. We will see the Plaza Mayor, the Presidential Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop`s Palace, the City Hall and the Desamparados Train Station. We will also see Plaza San Martin, a large park surrounded by old colonial buildings still displaying beautiful carved wood balconies and other landmarks. 

Finally we will visit the San Francisco Monastery and its famous underground crypts known as the Catacombs. At the end of the tour you will have a choice to either shop at the Indian Market, Larcomar Mall or return to your hotel.

Day 3: LIMA - PARACAS (Breakfast)

Transfer from the hotel to the bus station for your bus ride to Paracas (4 hrs). Arrival in Paracas and transfer from the bus station to the hotel.

Day 4: PARACAS - ICA (Breakfast)

BALLESTAS ISLANDS (2 hrs ) 

Departing from the pier of La Hacienda Bahia Paracas Hotel. This 2 hour boat ride will lead you to the Ballestas Islands located near Pisco city, in front of the Paracas National Reserve (largest coastal wildlife sanctuary of Peru). These beautiful islands are home of thousands of migratory birds, including: pelicans, tendrils, gulls among others, which share their habitat with huge groups of sea lions and fur seals. During the excursion you will also see the mysterious designing over the hill, called "El Candelabro" (The Chandelier). 

10:45 Transfer to the bus station for your Bus ride to Ica. Arrival in Ica and transfer from the bus station to the hotel. 

11:05 Bus ride to Ica. 

12:40 Upon your arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. 

14:00
CITY TOUR (2 hours) 

Visit to the Main Square and walk around the main streets of Ica Ancient and Modern. Then visit the Regional Museum of Ica where you will appreciate the evolution of the five cultures more representative of the region such as: Paracas, Nazca, Wari, Ica, Chincha and Inca. You will also do a wine tour in a vineyard where we you will have a comprehensive explanation of winemaking and also tasting our representative drink, Pisco. Finally, visit to the lagoon of Huacachina also called "El Oasis de America" where you will appreciate the wonderful landscape surrounded by impressive dunes.

Day 5: ICA - AREQUIPA (Breakfast)

NASCA LINES OVERFLIGHT (1 HOUR 10 MINUTES) 

Overflight the Nazca Lines (from Ica-Nazca) You will be transferred to the local airport for your flight over the incredible Nazca Lines, drawn on the pampas of the same name. You will see several figures of stylized plants and animals drawn in an enormous labyrinth of straight lines, trapezoids, triangles, and spirals scattered about the desert floor that has remained preserved for about 2000 years. 

Notes: The flight is subject to weather conditions in the area. Groups of passengers may be divided into different flights considering the maximum weight allowed on the plane as provided by law. This overflight is considered a domestic flight and it´s necessary to show the passport at the boarding time. 

10:40 Transfer from the hotel to bus station. 

11:10 Bus ride to Arequipa. 

23:00 Upon your arrival, reception and transfer to your hotel.

Day 6: AREQUIPA (Breakfast)

CITY TOUR & SANTA CATALINA CONVENT (3 hours) 

You will have around 3 hours tour on Arequipa´s city, also known as the White City, during this tour we will show you all its charms of the main streets and colonial buildings, where you will visit The Main Square, The Cathedral, La Compañia a Jesuit's church and religious cloisters, Santa Catalina convent � which is a city within the city � built on the XVI century and closed to the public for almost 400 years until 1970, and it´s still home of a few nuns. The tour continues to the Church and Square of San Francisco and Yanahuara area which has a famous lookout where you will have a complete view of the city and enjoy a spectacular view of the Misti Volcano.

Day 7: AREQUIPA - COLCA (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)

COLCA CANYON EXCURSION (6 hours) 

Departure to Colca Valley located over 3,500 meters above the sea. On the way you will cross the Aguada Blanca and Salinas National Reserve, with the highest presence of Andean flora and fauna. The trip continues to Tojra wetlands. Later you will cross Patapampa which is a land located over 4,800 meters above the sea where you will find the Mirador de los Andes, a strategic point to see the cordillera Chila with great volcanoes: Mismi, Chucura, Huaracante, and far away the Ubinas, Misti, Chachani, Ampato, Sabancaya and Hualca Hualca. To continue you will arrive at Chivay town and you will be transferred to the selected accommodation.

Day 8: COLCA - PUNO (Breakfast and Lunch)

VISIT TO THE COLCA CANYON AND THE CONDOR CROSS (13 hours) 

After breakfast, you will start the journey through the main towns of the valley until the first stop at Yanque, where you will appreciate the typical dances exposed in the main square. You can also choose for a short walk (45 min.) along a path at the edge of the canyon. 

Then you will departure to La Cruz del Condor, the best spot to observe the deepness of the canyon (3,400 meters deep, 124 miles length) and also see the majestic fly of the condor. There is not an exactly time to see them, it can be at any time; sometimes it depends of your good luck and patience. On the way back you will visit some interesting places such as: Pre -Inca's hanging tombs, lookout of terraces, Pinchollo and Maca towns where you will have a short stop to take pictures of the landscapes. Then you will continue to the towns: Achoma and Yanque . You will arrive at 12:30 to Chivay for lunch; at appropriate time (approximately 13:30) you will be transferred to Puno.

Day 9: PUNO - LAKE TITICACA (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)

UROS & AMANTANI ISLANDS (LAKE TITICACA) 

Transfer to Uros, these floating islands are occupied by people known as the "Water Tribe" because they have built their own "Island" by adding periodically new layers of "Totora" a type of marram-grass very typical from this place. Then you will be transferred to Amantani Island, after welcome you will take lunch with locals. At appropriate time you will start a hike, where you will appreciate the local culture and customs. Then you wilL arrive to Pachatata ceremonial center, a place where Amantani's habitants deposit every year their ritual offerings. In front it´s another center called Pachamama, where the rituals and worships are offered to the cosmic deities. Return to family houses to take a typical dinner and overnight.

Day 10: : LAKE TITICACA - PUNO (Breakfast and Lunch)

TAQUILE ISLAND

After a typical breakfast, transfer to Taquile Island where you will have a four hours visit. You will arrive by the after side of the island to start a hike where you will appreciate the wonderful natural sightseeing, then ascend through a regular pendant slope to arrive to the town, there you will visit the Handicraft Center where you can buy a great variety of handmade tissues with very colorful and delicate designs. At proper time (approximately 13:00 pm.) transfer to Puno, this time you will descend 533 stone steps to reach the main port where you will get on board for a 2.50 hours trip to Puno city. Upon arrival (15:30 p.m.) transfer to the hotel.

Day 11: PUNO - CUSCO (Breakfast and Lunch)

BUS RIDE FROM PUNO TO CUSCO WITH VISITS ON ROUTE 

06:30 Departure for an eight hours trip towards Cusco, the Inka Express bus will stop in some interesting places such as Raqchy Temple and some old Inca constructions. You will contemplate marvelous landscapes and typical animals like the "llama", "alpaca" that will make of your journey an unforgettable one. 

16:30 Upon arrival to Cusco bus station transfer to the hotel.

Day 12: CUSCO (Breakfast)

CITY TOUR & NEARBY RUINS 

You will visit the city of Cusco, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco and home to a somewhat particular essence. The tour will start at the temple of Koricancha, an ancient Inca palace and main worship center of the Sun God, where the order of the Dominicans built an incredible church that can still be seen there. Then, you will tour the Plaza de Armas, where the Cathedral and the beautiful Church of the Society of Jesus, among other colonial buildings, are located. You will then continue the journey to the colonial church of San Crist�bal to enjoy a spectacular view of the city. Afterwards you will go on to the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, an Inca building known for its massive walls of hewn stone, located in a strategic location, on a hill, with a broad view of the city of Cuzco. Later, you will visit the important archaeological complexes of Qenko and Puca Pucara.

Day 13: CUSCO - SACRED VALLEY (Breakfast and Lunch)

FULL DAY EXCURSION TO PISAC RUINS AND MARKET, OLLANTAYTAMBO FORTRESS AND CHINCHERO 

We start our tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Our first stop will be at a Textile Center where we will see a demonstration of textile arts in its most natural expression. 

We will also get to see some native animals of Peru, some of them in danger of extinction. Next, we will go to the Pisac Archaeological Complex. We will visit the lower part of the complex, where the agricultural area and the pre-Hispanic cemetery (the largest in America) are located. We will also visit the artisan market and continue to the Valley of Urubamba, where we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. Later on, we will go to the town of Ollantaytambo and visit the Archaeological Complex. As we return to the city of the Cusco we will visit the town of Chinchero, famous by its handmade textiles.

Day 14: SACRED VALLEY - MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO (Breakfast and Lunch)

FULL DAY EXCURSION TO MACHU PICCHU 

An early breakfast before your transfer to Ollantaytambo train station to take the Expedition train to Aguas Calientes where our memorable trip to Machu Picchu start. This 1 � hour train ride takes us to the active market town of Aguas Calientes from where we catch the bus up to the extraordinary Machu Picchu ruins. 

A tour with an English speaking guide of this fabulous lost city of the Incas rediscovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911. With houses and temples surrounded by terraces cut into the mountain side. 

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. 

After the Tour, we will return to Cusco.

Day 15: CUSCO (Breakfast)

SOUTH VALLEY TIPON, PIQUILLACTA & ANDAHUAYLILLAS 

Southeast of Cuzco is the Tipon archeological center. Your excursion today includes a tour of the site to see long stone canals built by the Incans, representing the height of their hydraulic engineering skill. Afterwards, it´s a visit to Pikillacta, one of the most important Pre-Incan archeological centers. Next on the itinerary is the town of Andahuaylillas and its precious 17th century church that is a spectacular expression of Andean Baroque architecture.

Day 16: CUSCO - LIMA (Breakfast, snack)

13:20 Transfer to the bus station for your road trip back to Lima (22 hrs ride aprox). 

(You can always flight from Cusco to Lima).

Day 17: LIMA (snack)

11:00 Arrival in Lima and transfer to your hotel. 

Free day to rest.
